Heritage Masonry Restorations | Victoria, BC
At Lennox Masonry, we specialize in the restoration and conservation of heritage masonry structures in Victoria, Saanich, Oak Bay, Fairfield, James Bay, Langford, Esquimalt, Duncan, and throughout Vancouver Island. Over the years, we’ve repaired and rebuilt countless heritage chimneys, stone walls, chimneys, brick façades, and stone‑clad buildings, always striving to preserve the original character while bringing them up to modern structural and safety standards.
Heritage restoration is about more than just “fixing old stone.” It’s about understanding the materials, the climate, and the original builders’ methods so that repairs blend seamlessly with the historic fabric. That’s why we take a careful, research‑driven approach to every project, whether it’s a Victorian‑era chimney in Rockland or Uplands, a stone‑faced heritage home in Fairfield, or a commercial masonry façade in Downtown Victoria.

Stone & Brick Heritage Experts In Victoria BC

Our Experience
Based in Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island, Lennox Masonry utilizes traditional masonry craftsmanship and materials to breathe new life into old masonry buildings and architectural features through a non-abrasive approach. We utilize traditional lime-based mortars and techniques to replicate the original mortars used and ensure their compatibility.
Masonry restoration is an in-depth process of understanding and curating solutions for aging stone and brick. Lennox Masonry specializes in restoring heritage masonry structures to their original state through repointing, rebuilding, and replicating methods, as well as specialized steam cleaning with our DOFF Integra System.
From the consultation stage through to the restoration itself, we are with you every step of the way to ensure that each aspect of your project receives its due attention. Our goal is to ensure the authenticity and longevity of heritage and historical masonry buildings.
Why Heritage Masonry Requires a Different Approach
-
Original materials matter: We sample and analyze existing mortar and stone to match colour, texture, strength, and workability as closely as possible, so repairs look appropriate to the period.
-
Climate‑specific work: Our coastal environment—rain, salt, and freeze‑thaw cycles—demands mortars and detailing that will shed water and resist spalling, not just look good for a few years.
-
Code and heritage compliance: Heritage‑designated chimneys, walls, and façades must meet both Victoria heritage‑restoration guidelines and current building‑safety codes. We help navigate permits, reports, and coordination with conservation bodies so your project remains compliant and fundable.
By respecting the original craftsmanship and using modern techniques correctly, we ensure that your heritage masonry lasts for another century rather than needing constant patching.

In 2024, Lennox Masonry undertook the restoration of both the sandstone and brickwork comprising the city hall in Duncan, BC. This project involved the removal of decrepit mortar and lime-wash from the sandstone ribbons around the building and replacing it with traditional lime-based mortar and lime-wash. The granite and sandstone staircases were also repointed in traditional fashions. For more details on this project, please click here!
Over the decades, Lennox Masonry has had the pleasure of restoring, repointing, and rebuilding stone walls, pillars, chimneys, and other masonry features that were originally designed and built by the late and famous architect, Samuel Maclure in Victoria, BC. These masonry structures are heritage-designated and require traditional lime-based mortars while being restored. In 2025, Lennox Masonry, in cooperation with the Government House in Victoria, BC and the Camosun College: Women In Trades Program, had the opportunity to repoint heritage stone walls with traditional lime-mortar and teach students of the program about masonry restoration and preservation.
