Educational Programs

Camosun College:
Women In Trades
2025: In cooperation with Camosun College and the Government House in Victoria, BC, Lennox Masonry had the opportunity to host an educational course on the history of traditional lime-based mortars and their role in preserving and maintaining historical and heritage buildings. This 1-day course consisted of removing mortar from stone walls and grouting in the joints with a traditional Quicklime mortar to match the original. Also known as repointing. Students of Camosun College' Women In Trades Program were educated on stonemasonry tools, the history of the Government House, the history of the trade itself, mortars, and the proper way to restore and preserve these buildings.
Interested in Hosting a Restoration Project?
Lennox Masonry, in cooperation with the team at Camosun College, are interested in providing educational opportunities for the younger generations getting involved in the masonry trade and are in need of venues from which to do so. The programs consist of teaching students the importance and the process involved with restoring and preserving historical masonry buildings and structures.
Venue Requirements:
While we are primarily focused on teaching these students about restoring and preserving older masonry buildings and structures, we are also open to working on new-builds. Washrooms must be made available, as well as access to both water and power. Materials and expenses related to the project are the responsibility of the venue owner/operator, however, labour is free-of-charge.

What Services We Provide:
The course is designed to take no longer than 1-2 days, making repointing and rebuilding of chimneys or stone walls ideal. We also provide cleaning courses which entail using a masonry-friendly steam cleaner.
