Oak Bay | Stone Veneer Project
The Oak Bay stone veneer project is a great example of how stone can completely transform the look and feel of a home while still working within the existing structure. For this project, Lennox Masonry installed stone veneer to give the property a more refined, substantial, and timeless appearance. The result is a finish that adds texture, depth, and character without overpowering the home itself.
Stone veneer is an excellent option for homeowners who want the look of natural stone with a lighter-weight application that can still deliver a dramatic visual improvement. On this Oak Bay project, the veneer was selected and installed to complement the home’s style while adding a stronger sense of permanence and craftsmanship to the exterior.

Vision
For this Tudor home in Oak Bay, Victoria, BC, Lennox Masonry was tasked with creating a new look for the front of the house, including the entryway. The most cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing option was to create a scratch coat overtop of the stucco and apply a thin stone veneer.
We utilized a combination of K2 Stone's KV Granite & Tofino Sky stone veneer which is quarried right here on Vancouver Island. From the stone selection, we cut down uniform pieces to install a stone trim around the windows and archways. We then installed stone sills underneath the main window, as well as concrete sills beneath the gable and entryway window.
Stone veneer is one of the most effective ways to enhance a home’s exterior because it brings the warmth and texture of real stone into a more adaptable format. On this Oak Bay project, Lennox Masonry used thin stone veneer to create a finish that feels authentic, balanced, and well integrated with the existing architecture. The goal was not to make the house look overly renovated, but to improve its presence in a way that feels natural and enduring.
A successful veneer project depends on more than just the stone itself. It requires careful planning, proper preparation, and a thoughtful understanding of how the material will work with the rest of the building. The proportions, colour variation, and layout all need to be considered so the finished result feels intentional rather than applied as an afterthought. On this project, those details helped create a finish that looks refined and cohesive.
Stone veneer is particularly effective in a neighbourhood like Oak Bay, where quality materials and strong architectural character make a noticeable difference. The finished exterior now has more depth and visual interest, while also benefiting from the lasting appeal that stone brings to a home. It is the kind of project that can improve curb appeal immediately while continuing to add value over time.
This project also highlights one of the main strengths of custom masonry: the ability to tailor the material and finish to the specific character of the property. Whether used as a full exterior feature or as a targeted enhancement, stone veneer can completely change how a home is perceived from the street and how it feels to live in.

Completion
The Oak Bay stone veneer project shows how a carefully installed stone finish can bring timeless character and a more substantial look to a home. It is a strong example of how masonry can elevate a property in a way that feels elegant, durable, and lasting.
